HALLOWEEN...It's back!!!

Boys and girls of every age, wouldn't you like to see something strange... ♫ (The opening line to one of the most epic movies in the past 20 years!!)

October 31st is fast approaching, and I couldn't be more giddy out of my mind!! (For those who may think I'm crazy, imagine your love for Christmas and times that by 5 - very excited!)

I've been planning my costume since early summer and it's so close to coming together and being finished! I've been keeping this years idea a secret, but here is a taste of one of my all time favourites from last year...

Needless to say, I was channeling my inner zombie! Ahh zombies, my favourite monster of choice...

Since about 2006, I've had the tradition going to watching a scary movie every night up until Halloween to get me ready for the big night. And this year is no different. I have some classics lined up, including Night of the Living Dead, Land of the Dead, The Exorcist, and Paranormal Activity. Also, can't forget the cheesy favourites such as Cabin Fever, Urban Legend and Bride of Chucky!

I guess my love of Halloween began back when I was just a wee child, wearing whatever clothing of my Mums that looked like a witch and fit over a snow suit (yeah, if you were born in the 70s, 80s or in Canada in general you know exactly what I'm talking about). My parents would take me out for treats every year, rain or snow, warm or sub zero. I cut my teeth making the rounds in a little borough in the middle of nowhere which in hindsight added to the "spooky" mood. As I grew I moved away to the big city, but still was taken out every year for the fun (and still in a witch costume, until the year I was 7 and I was Jasmine from Aladdin). Over the years, the costumes changed and evolved, and I "trick-or-treated" up until I was in grade 11! (gotta milk it while you could right?) Now that I'm grown, I've discovered the fun of dressing up and going out to the bars - such a fun time! Some people are amazingly creative, while some throw on lingerie and animals ears and call is a costume...

I guess I just want to encourage EVERYONE to go out, dress up and have fun this Halloween! It's the only day of the year you can dress as something you aren't and get away with it! (and If dressing in lingerie and mouse ears is your thing, no one can say anything about it!)

Have fun and stay classy my friends!!

Back and better than ever...

So it's clearly been a while since I've made the time to check my blog out. NOTE*- neglecting your blog will lead to story overload...*

I don't even know where to begin, so much has happened to me in the almost year since my last post. I graduated from college, and now face my new life in the real world. Thus far I have been able to navigate it, but I'm only 6 months in, so we'll see how it goes.

I'm working as a photographer for the time being, and I'm still well on my way to my career in radio. I figure every job and every experience helps you in the end, I hope!

I can't believe 2010 is almost over, it seems like just yesterday I was ringing in the new year with one of my BFFs over some $2 vodka cranberries (and believe me, that night DID NOT end well). I wonder what this new years will bring... haha.

Goodbye Radio....For Now

So my glorious six weeks in radio have come to an end, and the scary beast that is TV has now begun. I call it scary because I have absolutely no experience in it, while I did in radio. It's a lot to remember, and a bit more work. It will definitely be an adjustment!

I'm on my way... :)

So I'm half way through my second week of school....AND I LOVE IT!! I've been on air more than I can keep track of, and my reports have began to be podcasted! I love being a news reader, researching and creating stories to read and pulling audio! I can't wait to do this for the rest of my life :)

AMAZING things happen when you least expect it!

So this is my final weekend in the city - the move is on Sunday. I decided to spend my final Friday at the Blackhorse, listening to Mum and Rick. Before they got up to perform, I feel a tap on my shoulder and out of nowhere appears the man who taught my film workshop course last summer at Trent. He asked if I still had my 16mm film I had created (it was a scratched film, coloured with Sharpies and set to Donovan's "Sunshine Superman"). I said I did, and he asked if I would be interested in having him show it on my behalf at a Film Festival. Of course I said yes right away, because honestly, how often does that opportunity present itself? And then he told me where the festival will be taking place...

NEW YORK CITY!!!

I did a bit of a squeal, and a bit of jazz hands. I still can't believe it!! Who knows where this could go for me! New doors are opening up all over the place - it's so amazing! Needless to say, after he left I proceeded to do my own rendition of Ashlee Simpson's hoedown jig...things are looking pretty good at this moment! :)

And it begins...

So here it is, my very first blog post. I'm currently sitting in my mom's lazyboy in her purple living room, surrounded by all my stuff that I'm trying to sort through before I move (and clearly, I'm failing at it). Yes, the big move is this Sunday - I'm not scared, but to be honest, I'm not too sure what I feel about it at all. Maybe as it gets closer, something will change. Till then, I shall have to hip wade through all of my shoes. After my move has been completed, I plan on using this blog to share my experiences at school - both educational and recreational. Expect to see reviews, photos, and other fun stuff I come across in my journeys. Let me tell you, I can't wait!

Until next time....
