Five TV Shows You MUST Check Out (If Only Once...)

Yeah, Hollywood is lacking originality these days and every one knows it. In the past few years there have been remakes, reboots and any other "re" you can probably think of, but once in a while a few good shows come along that make it worth sitting your butt down in front of the TV for an hour (or two...). I have complied a list of five that definitely are worth a look.

1 - "The Walking Dead" (AMC) : The Walking Dead follows a group of infection survivors fighting zombies - and each other - for survival in Georgia. The series is based upon the graphic novels by the same title, written by Robert Kirkman. Season one premiered on October 31st/10 and, to many of its fans dismay, only ran for 6 episodes. A second season was green lit immediately and should be ready for this fall.

2 - "The Chicago Code" (FOX) : A new superintendent, the first female in Chicago's history teams with a small number of officers to take down police and government corruption in the city. I like this one because it doesn't hold back - the actors they cast are perfect...and they hired real Chicago Officers as extras. The pilot aired the first week of February to positive reviews.

3 - "Blue Bloods" (CBS) : Blue Bloods focuses on the close knit Reagans, a family of NYPD cops. Tom Selleck brings back his legendary mustache and some decent ass-kicking. It first aired in September /10 and continues to air Friday nights at 10.

4 - "Shit My Dad Says" (CBS) : Well, this one started off to a rough start but has slowly become watch worthy. The show is based on the Twitter feed of the same name and William Shatner does the character of Ed so much justice! The season finale aired in mid-February.

5 - "Shameless" (Showtime) : Brilliant. It's the one word I can think of to describe Shameless. It follows the Gallaghers, a extremely dysfunctional family that somehow manages to make everything work. Comedy, drama, shock value - you name it, Shameless has it.

Ever Get Frustrated?

So I've been finished school for 8 months now and I'm still looking for the perfect job - easier said than done! I feel like I've been banging me head against the wall trying to find something, but that hasn't stopped me from being a persistent little bugger!

As I have come to learn, media is one of the hardest industries to crack - and I would have to fall in love with it. Ever since I sat down in my high school guidance office in grade 9 and read about broadcast journalism I was hooked...nearly 9 years and a university degree later there I was!

It was such an amazing program, I loved everything about it! It taught me everything I could ever need to know. Now all I have to do is find the perfect radio gig to show off my amazing skills! Sigh.

I know the day will come...I just hope it's sooner rather than later! Lady Gaga had it right - we're all born to be who we're meant to be...
